Day 1: Prague [Czech Republic]
The starting day of our tour, the day we have been waiting for! We started it by taking a flight via Easy-Jet from London-Gatwick to Prague. This was the most economical for us to get there and it worked out lovely! Easy-Jet is sort-of a "Southwest of Europe" and the accommodations were great. We took a cab from the Prague airport to our hotel [Hotel Hastal], checked in and hit the town for lunch. The receptionist recommended a restaurant just down the street, which had great food! This restaurant was Restaurace U Červeného Kola, they had a reasonable and quick lunch for us to enjoy before we met our group. Our hotel location is shown below!
Our group first met in the back garden of the hotel. Our guide Katka rounded us up and introduced herself, she seemed awesome already! Very punctual, glad to see everyone and made herself the group's "Mother Hen" immediately! We started our tour with a walk with Katka around her home town, Prague, or as we now refer to it, "Praha". We visited the Old town, Josefov and the Charles Bridge on our way to our included group dinner. The group was served up great authentic Czech food along side many locals at Konirna. We had a great dinner with our tour members and were very excited for the rest of the tour!
Nicole managed to spend some quality time watching Netflix and reading books about Eastern Europe prior to going on our trip. Some of the stories she came across were very interesting and were further driven home as we visited these places! As we go through, we will add some "what you should read" or "what you should watch" recommendations before heading to Eastern Europe!
